When did you begin singing or playing an instrument?
I was turning 11 and had always wanted to play growing up. At family functions my family would always get the guitars out and play! Always wanted to be apart of it so, I finally picked up an old guitar that my mother had from her childhood, and taught myself how to play!
What inspired you to become a singer/songwriter?
Not too sure where the inspiration came from. Part of it is of course my family always playing songs they would write, but I think it was just something I loved doing. There was never a need for one particular moment to flip the switch and make me want to write songs and perform them. Pretty sure the switch was always on.
What genre would you call your music?
I would consider it a Rock and Roll / Modern Country blend.
Is there anything you have learned from being a singer/songwriter?
Just to continue to create and write. There is so much in the world around us that is a gateway for new songs, new thoughts, or to build on existing ones. SO yes, just to constantly keep your mind open.
What does it mean to you to be a singer/songwriter?
Simple. Write songs, and perform them in front of people. No matter what. Some songs may not be as good as others or so you think, but there might be a connection to an audience with that song you’d never know of unless you play it for them!
What part about being a singer/songwriter do you enjoy most?
All of it. Starts with the creative process and ends with it. You create/write the song, then it comes to performing it. You have to play the song with the same mindset you wrote it so the feeling is there. I love it all!
Have you made any friends because of being a singer/songwriter?
I have been blessed with opening for a ton of Country Artists that have now become friends. The community in country music is very humbling. I am forever grateful for the friends I have made that continue to push me to be a better artist.
Have you traveled because of being a singer/songwriter?
We get to tour a lot throughout the year and for that I am extremely blessed. Being able to perform your music in front of new people and meet new folks is truly a wonderful experience.
Have you done something exciting because of being a singer/songwriter?
Being able to hear a song you wrote and/or recorded is a feeling that will never get old.
