About Jess Taylor
I’m a country singer songwriter born in Florida! I really want to touch people with my music and lyrics and be able to have fans relate to my songs.

At what age did you begin singing or playing an instrument?
I’ve been singing since I was 4 years old. I first started singing at my church for a Christmas pageant. Ever since then, I’ve loved to perform in front of people! At 14, I decided I wanted to start learning how to play the guitar. It’s been very instrumental (see what I did there) in my career and songwriting process.

What inspired you to become a singer/songwriter?
I’ve always loved to write. When I was younger I would write short stories and little bits to songs. When I was old enough to really understand the fundamentals of writing, I fell in love with the art. It’s amazing to be able to have feelings and emotions and to put them into songs that other people can relate to!

What genre would you call your music?
My passion is for country music!

Is there anything you have learned from being a singer/songwriter?
I’ve learned that it’s definitely an escape. When I’m mad or upset, I pick up my guitar and write a song about it.

What does it mean to you to be a singer/songwriter?
I love being able to touch people with my songs. It’s awesome when I have someone come up to me and say “hey, I can totally relate to those lyrics.” It makes me feel really happy when people like my songs.

What part about being a singer/songwriter do you enjoy most?
I love that I get to perform for people, especially my originals! I love meeting my fans and inspiring people.

Have you made any friends because of being a singer/songwriter?
In Nashville, the singer/songwriter circle is so large and inviting! Everyone is so helpful and supportive. I’ve made so many friends through music, and it’s a win win because we get to hang out outside of music, but we also write together and get to help each other express what we’re feeling in songs.

Have you traveled because of being a singer/songwriter?
I actually moved to Nashville to further pursue my music. Being from south Florida, the country music scene wasn’t extremely big there and I wanted to branch out and be able to have more opportunities, so my family and I made the move to Tennessee!

Have you done something exciting because of being a singer/songwriter?
I’ve had some amazing opportunities with my music. I’ve been blessed with opportunities to open up for country legend John Anderson, perform at the NASCAR Sprint Cup, and sing in front of 20,000 people at a world conference in Miami! It’s been very rewarding!
